Recommended wine houses
Two of the village’s highest-rated wine houses provide a starting point for understanding the local scene. Check current ratings and opening hours on Google Maps before visiting.
- Kırkınca Şarap Evi: On Çarşı İçi Sokak, within walking distance of the village centre. It has a Google Maps rating of 4.9 from over 1,600 reviews and is known for tasting samples and its range of fruit wines. Read the Kırkınca wine house guide.
- Limon Şarap Evi (Şirince Limon Şarap Mahzeni): On 206th Street in the village. With a Google Maps rating of 5.0 from around 130 reviews, it is among the village’s highest-rated businesses.
The most preferred wine: Marnas
Marnas stands out as the most preferred wine in the village. Its best-known variety is Marnas Summer Fruits Wine, made from summer fruits such as strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and cherries. Currant and coffee-flavoured versions are also found in local establishments. Kırkınca and Limon wine houses can provide information about these varieties during tastings.
Local retailer or producer?
Some village businesses sell wines they produce, while others bring together products from different producers. Both models are common; neither is inherently better. The important point is knowing what is in the bottle. Producer details appear on the label.
What to check when choosing a cellar
- Does the label clearly state the producer, production location, volume and alcohol content?
- Are bottles stored somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight?
- Can staff answer your questions clearly?
- Are prices displayed visibly?
Questions to ask about a wine
- Which grape or fruit is it made from?
- Is it dry, off-dry or sweet?
- Where was it made, and by which producer?
- How should it be stored, and at what temperature should it be served?
